This is a one-year fellowship program that is available to candidates who have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in neurosurgery and are eligible for certification by the American Board of Neurosurgery, with a desire to pursue additional training in advanced minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery. The overall goal of the fellowship is to develop spine surgeons who either wish to move on to private/academic or privademic practice focusing on spinal surgery techniques. The program will teach advanced operative skills and patient management. It will further develop clinical research and teaching skills.
By the completion of the program the fellow should:
- Develop and enhance operative technique and clinical skills in the pre- and post-operative management in advanced spinal surgery with a major emphasis on minimally invasive techniques and emerging technology.
- Develop and implement research projects related to the content areas of the fellowship. Manuscript preparation, poster preparation, oral presentation and/or book chapter preparation are expected.
The fellowship is overseen and administratively supported by the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville Office of Educational Affairs.
